‘เด็กฉลาด ชาติเจริญ’ วลีที่ใช้ย้ำเตือนถึงความสำคัญของเด็กในทุกยุคทุกสมัย เราก็ได้แต่หวังว่าเด็กฉลาดเหล่านั้นจะไม่เติบโตขึ้นมาเป็นผู้ใหญ่ฉลาดแกมโกง (ฮา) ที่ต้องเอาชุดคำนี้มาเกริ่นนำเป็นเพราะว่าเราได้ไปเดินชมงานเพลินๆ ที่ TCDC หรือศูนย์สร้างสรรค์การออกแบบที่ห้างสรรพสินค้าเอมโพเรียมซึ่งกำลังจัดงานเทศกาลปล่อยแสงครั้งที่ 3 โดยมีโจทย์จำกัดให้เป็นงานนิทรรศการสำหรับผลงานของนักศึกษา ด้วยสโลแกนว่า ‘เด็กฉลาด ชาติเจริญ’

ด้วยพื้นที่บูธที่กำหนดให้นักศึกษาที่เข้าร่วมเทศกาลจัดแสดงผลงานของแต่ละคนเพียง 1x1 เมตร ทำให้ดูเหมือนว่าจะไม่สามารถโชว์ผลงานได้เต็มที่เท่าไหร่นัก แต่เราก็ต้องทึ่งในความสามารถของว่าที่นักออกแบบในอนาคตที่จัดการให้พื้นที่อันน้อยนิดกลายเป็นจุดโชว์ความคิดสร้างสรรค์ได้ไม่แพ้ฮอลล์ใหญ่ๆ เลย ทั้งการใช้สื่อมัลติมีเดียอย่างวีดีโอ ซาวนด์ประกอบผลงาน หรือแม้แต่สื่อในการจัดนิทรรศการที่อินเทรนด์ที่สุด

ในตอนนี้อย่าง interactive ที่ดึงความสนใจให้คนเดินผ่านเข้าไปหยิบ จับ กด เคาะ หรือเล่นได้อย่างมันมือ นอกจากงานออกแบบที่เป็นธีมสำคัญของ TCDC แล้ว เทศกาลปล่อยแสงครั้งนี้ยังเปิดโอกาสให้นักศึกษาสาขาอื่นๆ มาเข้าร่วมด้วย อย่างเช่น งานของนักศึกษาสาขาการเกษตร หรือวิทยาศาสตร์ ที่แม้จะไม่ใช่งานออกแบบโดยตรง แต่ก็เป็นงานที่เปี่ยมไปด้วยความคิดสร้างสรรค์อย่างเหลือล้น เพราะเป็นการนำเอาเทคโนโลยีในปัจจุบันมาต่อยอดให้เกิดผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ก้าวหน้าขึ้นไปกว่าเดิมอย่างเช่น หมวกกันน็อคกันกระสุนที่พัฒนาวัสดุรองหมวกให้แข็งแรงป้องกันได้แม้แต่กระสุนปืน เครื่องปอกเปลือกผลไม้ทรงกลมที่หน้าตาดูเหมือนที่คั้นน้ำผลไม้ แต่เมื่อได้แห็นวีดีโอสาธิตการใช้งานก็ต้องแปลกใจที่ดูจะใช้งานง่ายยิ่งกว่าปลอกกล้วย

ด้วยมือเปล่าเสียอีก ปลั๊กไฟกันน้ำที่เจ้าของผลงานเขาโชว์พาว ด้วยการเอาปลั๊กไฟไปแช่น้ำแล้ววางตุ๊กตาผ้าให้แตะกับสายไฟ ซึ่งถ้าไม่กันน้ำจริง ผ้าก็คงไหม้ไปแล้ว แต่ถ้าใครอยากรู้ว่ามันกันได้จริงรึเปล่า จะลองเอามือแตะเองก็ไม่ว่ากัน

สำหรับงานภาพยนตร์ที่มีผลงานเข้าร่วมมากมาย ทาง TCDC ก็เอาใจด้วยการจัดฉายขึ้นโชว์บนจอใหญ่สลับหมุนเวียนเปลี่ยนไปตลอดทั้งวันจนครบทุกเรื่อง ทำให้นักศึกษาที่ไม่มีทุนจะเอาหนังเข้าไปฉายในโรงหนังจริง ได้ทดสอบศักยภาพทางด้านภาพและเสียงด้วยโรงหนังคล้ายจริงก็คราวนี้

ไอเดียตั้งต้นเทศกาลปล่อยแสง
เทศกาลปล่อยแสงเป็นพื้นที่อิสระที่เปิดสำหรับทุกคนที่มีไอเดียทำมาหากินได้ ให้สามารถเข้ามานำเสนอผลงานของตนเองตามแนวคิดหลัก 3 หัวข้อ
1.การคิด (Inspiration) - why
2.การทำ (Practical process) - how
3.จุดขาย (Attraction) - wow
โดยเป้าหมายหลักของการนำเสนองานก็คือ การนำเสนอผลงานตั้งแต่สาเหตุในการคิดไอเดียตอบโจทย์ พร้อมด้วยกรรมวิธีหรือกระบวนการผลิตที่ทำได้จริง ก่อนงอกเงยเป็นผลงานสุดว้าว!

‘Kids are our future’, the phrase that we used to hear several times and we just hope that they going to be our good future then. (laugh) We use this phrase to be my intro because we had a chance to walk by TCDC and met the ploy-saeng festival 3 which is the time for students from university to show their power.

TCDC provided 1x1 meter booth for each student who wanted to show their project work, it seemed like the space was too tiny to describe their work. However, with their creativity, the designer-to-be can manage it as a point that show both of their work and their imagination with the full usage of space, some booth could be a small installation art. In the festival you would see many kinds of media was adapted to suit their own work, such as motion picture, sound effect or even the interactive media, the latest technology of exhibition in Thailand, were used by just the undergraduate students.

Besides the design which is the main theme of TCDC, there were also works from another circle such as agriculture, science and many more. Though their work weren’t a design but they had a powerful creativity. Most of them is the technology development and create a product that gives more convenience to every-day-life. For example, a bulletproof helmet which develop from the material inside the helmet to be stronger and able to protect the head from bullet, a peeler for sphere fruit which looks like a juicer but when we saw the demonstration video we need to gave him a big hand, a waterproof plug which the work owner dare to test his product by drown the plug and place a cloth doll to touch it, if the plug isn’t a waterproof, the cloth would be burned, but if you dare enough you can try touch it yourself.

For a load of motion picture, TCDC humor them by screening all the film on the film screen in the front of the exhibition, runs around all day. This is the chance for the students to show their film on the screen that almost the same as real theatre.
